My Appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show…6 months later
-
So for those of you who watched me come out and tell Oprah that I had been in hiding about putting back half the 214 lbs I lost while on the Biggest loser, you know that was back in January 2009 and everyone keeps asking where I am at today, here we are already six months later. I had the excuse of working tax season that kept me busy and the cold winter weather to keep me from getting outside to move around and here I am six months later, the weather is still awful in New York, not anything that makes you want to go outside and go for a run or walk and although tax season is over I am still not back on track totally.
I dont know what it is. I do know its not one thing in particular that keeps me from staying on the track. Usually its hard to start something, for me, its harder to stay at something. Im signed up to run the NYC Marathon in November. I have a lot of work ahead of me. I need to get focused and stop putting this one off more day. Its so hard when you have a family and a job to put yourself on the “list” sort of speak, but waiting for it to happen is clearly not working.
I am going to blog my challenges and my triumphs! Maybe I can get some insight on what the story is with me - being depressed about my weight gain sure isn’t helping lose it. Thanks for reading.

Hey Erik, I remember that show and how much it helped me to hear that others, particularly those in the spotlight, have a hard time staying on track. I think it took a great deal of courage to put it out there on The Oprah show. The fact that you are still plodding forward and are willing to share your story with others even when it isn’t perfect is impressive. It is so hard to stay on track when there are so many other things in life vying for our time and attention.
Keep fighting the good fight.

Erik, I think you are an amazing man. Keep at it. Love your informative website.
Doesn’t it feel like weight loss is like a switch — one day it switches on, and while it’s on, nothing can pull you from your healthy eating and activity… nothing is tempting.. it doesn’t seem hard at all. But then the switch goes off, and… nothing can motivate you, you just can’t seem to stay on track.. it’s so hard.
Maybe it’s just me who has that experience, but I find it so strange!

Erik -
OF COURSE you put back on some of what you achieved on the biggest loser. Who can live in that sort of structured environment forever. But what they never taught you was perfect control over your food. The Five Bite Diet WILL give you that control. Certainly you can stay on five bites 2x/day forever, but it will get you to your goal almost effortlessly without hunger. Once there, you have now learned how to control your hungerstat so that you will be able to maintain that perfect weight for the rest of your life. Please e-mail me or check out my website. I have written a book that takes you through the process step-by-step. Let’s get you back into extraordinary shape…AND HEALTH!!!

Erik - My apologies about the poorly written paragraph above: I just get so excited and passionate about this subject.
“Certainly you CANNOT stay on five bites 2x/day…”.

Erik I know this is easier said than done, but try to focus on the 100 plus pounds you are still down. I originally lost 113 pounds (after being inspired by Pete Thomas season 2). I have since put 35 back on and ironically will be running my first marathon a week before your’s. I have my running under control but not the eating.
Again try to think of the positives (and yes there are many) and try to focus on what got you to lose the 200 plus (ok $250K aside). I’m pulling for you Erik. I will be running NYC marathon next year (2010).

It was very brave to admit that you are still struggling with your weight, you are an inspiration to anyone who has weight issues. I hope the training for hte marathon goes well

Erik, I really hope you don’t stay depressed over the weight gain. Anyone who has ever had a weigh problem knows that it is a continuous struggle every day and you should never be judged by the scale. I just imagine that it is harder to deal with in the public eye. Hang in there. Do it for you and love yourself no matter what.
Good luck with the marathon. I will be following your blog. Stay strong. Stay healthy.

Hi Erik,
After watching you with Bob tonight I have pledged to myself to lose this weight (which I have gained back 3 times) once & for all by the end of season 9 also. Thanks for sharing your story with us & giving me a goal to achieve. Each time I’ve lost weight I had a goal.

Hi Erik,
I was watching the show last night and I just wanted to wish you all the best with your new challenge!!
Just remember that you did it before and you can do it again. It’s so hard when we fall off the wagon to get back on and stay on track, but you can do it and we are all here supporting you.
All the best!!!

I had a dream to start my own commerce, but I did not earn enough amount of money to do it. Thank heaven my close mate advised to take the credit loans. Thence I received the short term loan and realized my old dream.
